Our Story

Ted Robinson is a Producer, Director, Writer and Script Editor who has been involved in most spheres of entertainment including dance, circus, film, radio, theatre, revue and television. He is probably best known for his production and/or direction of satirical TV series which span more than three decades and include such pop culture icons as The Gillies Report, The Big Gig, DAAS Kapital, The Glass House and Good News Week.

 

Ted spent four years as ABC Commissioning Editor for Comedy, during which time he  Executive Produced a raft of programs including The Big Gig, Money or the Gun, Live and Sweaty,  This Sporting Life, Comedy Debates, and The Late Show.

 

He has also worked as a writer for many international acts including Peter Allen, Danny La Rue and Bette Midler; as a choreographer/director for TV commercials and musical theatre; and as a writer on film scripts and adaptations. Ted has a long involvement with the Melbourne International Comedy Festival and produces, for television, their galas, debates and other special events. He has also produced and/or directed DVDs for Lano & Woodley, Dave Hughes, Adam Hills, Wil Anderson, Danny Bhoy and recently produced and directed the Doug Anthony All Stars documentary called ‘Tick Fucking Tock.’

Catherine Alcorn is a multi award-winning Australian artist, producer, Artistic Director and one of the world’s most in-demand entertainers, renowned for her powerhouse vocals and razor sharp wit. 

Hailed as ‘a must see!’ (L.A. Times), ‘absolutely hilarious’ (Time Out) Catherine creates, produces and performs all of her own work including her critically acclaimed cabaret shows 30 Something (with Phil Scott), Go Your Own Way: The Story of Christine McVie, Cathartic and her infamous The Divine Miss Bette.

In 2018, Catherine made her triumphant USA and Sydney Opera House debut as The Divine Miss Bette winning her the Best Cabaret Production in the 2018 Broadway World Awards. The show has taken her all around the world including New York, L.A. Palm Springs and Houston, Texas. 

Catherine headlines the world’s most celebrated festivals including Sydney Festival, Adelaide Cabaret Festival, Festival of Voices and from 2014-2015 was Noosa Long Weekend’s inaugural Ambassador. 

As an entertainer and host, Catherine MC’s the biggest brands including TEDx, Apple, Mercedes Benz, Optus, Grant Burge, Special Olympics Australia, Clubs NSW, the SGLBA and Sydney Cabaret Competition.

A passionate fundraiser, Catherine has produced multiple campaigns, most notably alongside Trevor Ashley and George Youakim in 2016 with From Sydney With Love at Sydney Town Hall raising over $70,000 for the victims and families of the heartbreaking Orlando shootings. In 2012 Catherine produced Floodlight raising over $20,000 for the victims of the devastating QLD floods. 

In response to COVID-19 Catherine, and a team of Sydney producers, created The Reservoir Room, a virtual venue from Paddington Town Hall for a five week season, live streaming a brand new variety show Friday Night Live (directed by Ted Robinson and co-hosted with Rodger Corser) and Saturday evening cabaret and live music hours. This project kept over 45 of Sydney’s live entertainment industry workers employed. 

Catherine is the Managing Director of two production companies Tenacious C Presents (2016) and Roadcase, co-founded in 2021 with Good News Week founder Ted Robinson. 

Most recently, in association with the Melbourne Digital Concert Hall, Roadcase presented Catherine & Friends, a live streaming series direct from The Concourse Theatre in Sydney. The show is currently in pre production and will transfer to Main Stage theatres nationally in 2022.
